It is a bittersweet day for us here at LCC.  We announced today that we will be selling our LEED Certified Packaging & Shipping Distribution Center to Dealer.com and relocating to Williston, VT.  Our administrative offices, production and retail store will remain at 750 Pine Street in Burlington.

By acquiring the facility at 444 Pine Street, Dealer.com can expand their business and remain a viable employer in the Burlington community.

As Eric Lampman, Brand Manager of LCC stated at the press conference today, “This is a great opportunity for both companies and the state of Vermont.  We’re both growing and keeping and creating new jobs in our community.”

Lake Champlain Chocolates is known for our commitment to keeping business local, from the ingredients we use in our all-natural chocolates such as Vermont butter, cream, maple syrup and honey, to compensating our long time workers with competitive wages and generous benefits. LCC currently employs 117 people; this increases to approximately 140 during the busy season.

“Our ultimate goal and dream is to have all of our operations in one location,” says Lampman. “The lease at the Williston property gives us the time to find a site that meets all of our needs.”

The Williston location, at 290 Boyer Circle, will house LCC’s packaging and distribution center. This new location will provide us with the flexibility to accommodate anticipated growth in overall sales and in particular growth within the mail order/online business.

“With the majority of our chocolate being shipped around the country to specialty food stores such as Whole Foods Markets, Bristol Farms and Bruegger’s Bagel Bakeries, along with the expected growth of the mail order business, this move gives us the extra space we need to keep growing,” says Allyson Myers, Director of Sales and Marketing.

LCC also plans to open a full service retail store at its new Williston location in the fall of 2010; enabling the company to serve customers on the other side of Chittenden County.
“LCC has always had a presence on Pine Street. We love being in the south end of Burlington and are here to stay, yet we’re also really looking forward to opening a store in Williston.” says Gary Coffey, Director of Retail for LCC.

We can be proud that we are leaving the building in a far better state than we arrived and being able to play a part in bringing hundreds more jobs to our area.
