Vermont Foodie Gift Guide

Posted on December 11, 2013 11:50 AM by Amy Lipsitz

Vermont has long been ahead of the curve in the “good food” department. The best maple syrup on the planet, award-winning beer and cheese, beautiful hand-blown glassware and simply stunning cutting boards are just a sampling of what our home state has to offer. Working at a chocolate company where ingredient and product quality are of the utmost importance, you can bet there’s a lot of LCC employees that could be classified as “foodies.” We asked around the office and compiled a list of our favorite Vermont crafted, food related gifts for the gourmand on your list!

      1. Lake Champlain Chocolates Revel Chocolates- Handcrafted truffles in five unique flavors, sure to please any chocolate aficionado. Paired truffles include WhistlePig Straight Rye Whiskey, Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery Crème Fraîche, George Howell Espresso, Bergamot & Honey, and Chipotle Cinnamon.

2. Vermont Butcher Block Cheese Board- This cheese board was made with locally harvested Cherry and is just beautiful with the Tiger Maple stripe contrasting against the orange-red of the cherry. It's the perfect piece for a formal spread or even a picnic in the meadows of Vermont.

      3. Apple Cider Caramels- We teamed up with Citizen Cider and Happy Valley Orchard to create luscious, new Apple Cider Caramels!  Each bite will remind you of an orchard-fresh apple dipped in slow-cooked caramel and drenched in milk chocolate.  A classic taste of Vermont!

4. Vermont Creamery Goat Log Trio- These fresh goat cheeses have earned an honored place among chefs, both home and professional alike. The cheese is made with fresh goat's milk that sets overnight, is drained and then shaped into logs. This cheese is distinguished by a simple, mild, fresh goat's milk favor and is highly versatile as an ingredient or as part of a cheeseboard.

5. New Duds Vegetable Print Tea Towels- Perfect for any kitchen, this set of tea towels is hand drawn and hand printed by our friends at New Duds in Colchester, VT. Set of three Flour Sack Tea Towels in unique vegetable print designs!

6. Lake Champlain Chocolates Peppermint Hot Chocolate- Have a merry, minty holiday season! Our Peppermint Hot Chocolate is a refreshing blend of luxurious cocoa and refreshing peppermint, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon. Just the thing to warm everyone up on a cold day!

Happy Holidays from all of us here at Lake Champlain Chocolates!

I’ve found yet another potential item for my holiday shopping list. Yes, it has to do with chocolate. And yes, it has to do with this home spa treatment kick I’ve been on. It’s just that when it comes to holiday gifts for my friends, I feel they should be an indulgent treat, not something they “need”. I’ll let their families get them that. I wanna give chocolate and other feel good stuff. And with that, I present Decadent Chocolate Body Scrub.

The ingredient list of this body scrub reads like something you’d want to eat – organic cocoa powder, pure cane sugar, olive oil, coconut oil, lime, orange, and vanilla essential oils. When I got a sample of this from Lisa Ann Skincare Co, I couldn’t wait to go home and try it. I never really gave any notice to body scrubs before so you can imagine how shocked I was to see how soft it leaves your skin. Amazing! And it smells incredible.

Bundle this up with a Winter Hot Chocolate Tin or a box of Chocolate Truffles for enjoying afterwards and your gift will be their favorite.

PS - Don't forget, time to get entered to win in our Cookbook and Chocolate Giveaway is winding down. Don't miss out!

I’m not a chocoholic. I admit it. I know true chocoholics and I pale in comparison when it comes to the lengths and heights they will go for good chocolate. I am a sugaraholic though and chocolate falls into that category. I just don’t discriminate between candies. Truffles, candy corn, chocolate bars, jelly beans, bubble gum - they need only be tasty to me and I’ll eat them.

I do, however, have serious chocoholics on my holiday shopping list and while they can be sure they’ll be getting lots of Lake Champlain Chocolates, I realize I need to find some non-chocolate items to fill their stockings and round out their gifts. So, I went on a hunt for inedible chocolate themed gifts my chocoholic friends would love. I assume you, too, have chocoholics on your list (including yourself) so I thought I’d share what I find. Then you can accent your gifts of Lake Champlain Chocolates with other fun chocolatey items.

The first items I found were these adorable “chocolate” soaps from Sudz N Bubbles. Of course you can’t eat them but at first glance, you’d like to. They come shaped like pies and cupcakes and cleverly packaged. The slice of chocolate crème pie soap even comes in a plastic individual pie serving container. They smell like black forest cake, chocolate cake, raspberry truffle and more. Check them out online at http://www.sudznbubbles.com/. And if you use the code RUDYS when you checkout, you can save 10% on your entire order through the end of the year.

Imagine taking a bath with chocolate scented soaps and eating Lake Champlain Chocolate truffles. Just be sure you don’t mix the two up.
