At Lake Champlain Chocolates, each year we hold a week-long, internal campaign to raise money for the United Way of Chittenden County. 2010 marks the 9th year we’ve run this week of fundraising with our 100+ employees, and over those years, we’ve raised at total of $24,000! Each year the United Way Campaign has a theme, and this year’s was Taste of Vermont, which featured products from local Burlington, Vermont vendors.
Thanks to generous donations from August First, Klinger’s Bread Company and Great Harvest Bread Company, we were able to have a bake sale which featured these local eateries’ scrumptious baked goods!
From August First, we received freshly baked baguettes which were gone within less than an hour from when they arrived due to the popularity. Baguettes from August First are one of Jim Lampman’s personal favorites! Klinger’s Bakery donated an assortment of cakes, cookies and breads which were all delicious and greatly appreciated. In addition, we received a donation of 2-dozen AMAZING cinnamon buns from Great Harvest Bread Company – our neighbor just down the road.
Leonardo’s Pizza also contributed and made us 23 pizzas for our employee pizza party! These pizzas were enjoyed by all, helped raise money, and gave employees something to munch on while we drew the raffle tickets for the raffle!
South End Studio is also a neighbor of ours, and the owner, Sabrina, generously contributed a 5-class-pass to our raffle! The lucky employee, Meghan, who often posts on this blog won that pass so she can go to a yoga class or try zumba!
Two employees won the infamous “I love Vermont” green t-shirts, an LCC Easter Basket and two chances to win a paid day off were also part of the raffle.
Here at Lake Champlain Chocolates, part of our mission is to care for our community, and the week-long United Way Campaign really shows our commitment to that mission!
